Was shopping around for new seat covers. I had the Wet Okele's in my '02 Tacoma for a number of years ands they held up well. I decided to try CalTrend this time.
I really liked the Wet Okele but decided on the CalTrend this time for a few reasons. They had the color scheme I wanted and it goes real well with the interior. They are also cheaper. The wait time was also only four days for the neoprene custom covers compared to the 4 weeks for Okele.
Installation took about fifteen minutes. It would probably have taken longer but I had experience with the Okole's and the setup is pretty much similar with the straps and such.
I ordered mine last week and received them yesterday. Black with charcoal insert.
Installed last night and it took about 1/2 hour, not rushing. Make sure you identify the driver/passneger side covers before you start. Instructions lack this but they really are pretty easy to install.
Very impressed with the fit and quality. I have sport seats and these are stitched to fit very good, not over tight at all and not loose. Very pleased with the purchase overall.
Front covers were easy to install. Rear covers were more difficult because the seat cushion needs to be lifted up to allow all the many straps to be attached and tightened underneath it. The instructions don't make it very clear, but there are two white small plastic latches, that must be pulled to release the seat cushion. And you have to be careful reaching under the tight space to pull the straps through.
Fit overall is very good. There's just a bit of the rear seat cover on both sides of the seat cushion that hang out at the bottom and are not snug.
After initially holding off on the CalTrend Seat Cover Set, I decided to go ahead and try them out because they are made in USA. Unlike any Chinese product, these can be purchased without fear that they are made of hazardous materials soaked in poison with a noxious odor. These covers have no odor at all and fit on the FJ seats like gloves. In fact, I would pay at least $50 for just the two armrest covers which add padding with fabric that doubles the comfort of the factory armrests.
Instead of waiting weeks or months for other brands to make them to order, these were delivered from CalTrend in only 8 business days. Finally, I would say that the CalTrend Seat Covers are a must have minimum if you intend to protect the fairly lightweight Toyota seat material at all from excessive wear, spills, and stains. Front and rear seat cover sets are available and sold separately in a variety of colors. I only bought the front set with charcoal inserts as pictured. They are actually cheaper than a good set of floor mats, so grab a set and feel pretty good about it.
