Chevrolet introduced the Chevy City Express cargo van in 2014 to get a share of the growing compact van market in North America. The Chevrolet City Express is a re-badged Nissan NV200 van. Thanks to its small size, its unibody construction, its standard front-wheel-drive configuration, its electric power-assisted steering system, and its fully independent strut type front suspension, this van drives like a car, with responsive handing and great ride quality. Therefore, the City Express makes sense for fleet drivers who have to drive around the city all day making deliveries or meeting clients.
Chevrolet offered the City Express from 2014 to 2018. However, unlike other compact vans on the market, the City Express was only offered in cargo van configurations. It offered a maximum cargo volume of 122.7 cubic feet behind the front seats. Its cargo area length stood at 6 feet 10 inches while its cargo area width between the sidewalls stood at 4 feet 6 inches, so it could accommodate a standard factory pallet. At the back, this van featured 40/60 split rear doors that opened 180 degrees wide for easy loading and unloading of items. In addition, the City Express came with built-in roof rack mounting points, so installing a roof rack was easy. Its cargo area also came integrated with 20 reinforced cargo mounting points that made it easy to upfit the van with shelves, racks, etc. Driving the City Express was a 2.0 L inline-four gas engine that developed 131 hp and 139 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine delivered a fuel economy of 24 mpg city/26 mpg highway (25 mpg combined).
The Chevy City Express was offered in LS and LT trim levels. The range-topping LT trim level offered features and accessories like power windows and door locks, a keyless entry system, a height-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment, cruise control, heated power mirrors, rear parking sensors, and a 5.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
